The storage of flowers in a controlled atmosphere warehouse is mainly achieved by controlling and changing the gas composition to achieve freshness preservation. Generally, controlling the oxygen content between 0.5% and 1.0%, and controlling the carbon dioxide content between 5% and 10% is more suitable. If the oxygen content is too high, the breathing speed is fast, which is not conducive to preservation. If the oxygen content is too low, the flower material will rot due to anaerobic respiration.

Attention should be paid to the preservation of flower arrangements:

(1) There are various factors that affect the preservation of flower materials, including both the flower material itself and environmental conditions. No matter which preservation method is used, the first step is to choose high-quality flower materials, which should be fresh and free from pests and diseases. It is best to open the flowers at 60%.

(2) The most important environmental factors for storing flower materials are temperature and humidity. It is required that the ambient temperature should be close to the most suitable storage temperature, and there should be no ethylene producing fruits around. Humidity generally requires a relative humidity of over 85%. If the requirement is not met, plastic film or damp cloth can be used to cover it to improve local humidity conditions. When selecting a specific method, the selection should be based on the specific requirements and conditions of the flower material.
